Porcelain type A good strong garlic in a large clove. The heritage of this unique garlic can be directly traced to Northern Germany. This garlic most likely entered the US in the early 1900’s.
It could possibly be the most cold-hardy variety known, having been documented to –18°F in Eastern Oregon. And one grower, who cultivated this variety in New York for more than 10 years, claims it withstood – 60°F. It’s a potent hardneck that is easy to peel. Its large clove size makes it a great all-purpose garlic, especially good for baking.
